Hi all
Just found this forum http://www.bba-reman.com/forums/Forum1-1.aspx
I searched for 'Peugeot speedo' and Cyril the 'Master technician' , who is apparently an expert in all things Peugeot, advised replacing a black box 3 -4 inches in size called a Speedometer Interface located behind the glove box (£30 or so) solved the speedo and low throttle 'chugging' problem. I have also noticed this slight chugging' , will be down to garage first thing today.

I'm not sure if the D9s have a speedo interface, it's a common problem on the D8s though, especially the 2,1 td. D9 speedo problems seem to be bad connections on the dash more. Then it's a V6 so who knows? Best of luck anyway!
think i have to agree with steve here ,mine's a D9 and i recently was
behind the glove box and didn't notice a black box, will consult haynes
comic later
have consulted haynes (always good for a laugh) the wiring diagrams for a D9
in general show a speed sensor that feeds info to the ecu and also the bsi ,
cant find trace of anything that could be behind glove box but then i'm
no auto electrician. i would go for dry joint

I read on another forum a while back that it's the sagem units that give trouble.
My last 406 had the problem but touch wood all ok on the tubby!

I found .pdf instructions with pics of the Speedo Interface and how to remove it. I def haven't got one on mine. I'm told that a dry joint can be discounted as the odometer and speedo stop and start in sync so It's probably down to the Speedo Sensor on the gearbox now.

Gearbox Speedo Sensor (£31) fitted by Peugeot (£69 - 1 hour) this morning. Asked the peugeot people about fitting a handbrake switch (£3) they said (£69 - 1 hour) , I will live with the 'Brake fluid low' warning till I do it myself.
Extensive testing today and the speedo problem seems to be cured
Off to the scottish highlands tomorrow in the pug. If it has to be tested do it in the middle of nowhere...
