fuel comp help please
hi
i have just bought a 406 hdi glx mk2(99) but there was no fuel comp on the dash display. i since changed the stalk for one with a push button on the end and now get the fuel comp on the screen,it shows a pic of a fuel pump ect but there are no numbers in there. does this need to be set up by the dealer or is it something i can do myself.
cheers

I don't think it's possible on the D9's with the multiplex wiring
In theory you'd have to add the missing wires for live fuel and speed data and I'd imagine have the BSI reprogrammed to tell it there's a trip computer installed.

i have a 406 hdi lx 110 2000 (w) and i would of thought that it would of gave me a read out of how heavy my foot was in the way of mpg and which stalk would have a button on if that is how you change the display or is this a added extra on pugs ?

Re: fuel comp help please
I believe it was not an optional extra. The right stalk has an end button on it. When it is pressed it takes you through the various data. If for instance the date is showing, the first press should be... miles before refuel, second should be... miles since refuel, third should be... average mpg, third should be... current mpg, fourth should be... miles travelled on tank, fifth should be... avg speed. Or somewhere in that order.irunmineonred wrote:i have a 406 hdi lx 110 2000 (w) and i would of thought that it would of gave me a read out of how heavy my foot was in the way of mpg and which stalk would have a button on if that is how you change the display or is this a added extra on pugs ?
To reset the computer, simply hold the button pushed in on the right stalk for around 10 seconds. All should become ---.- ie. dashes. current mpg only works at speeds of 25mph or above.

It's just a blank; you'd have to swap the stalk for one with a button.irunmineonred wrote:ok my right hand stalk has what looks like a button and indeed when i push it it dose nothing so i pulled it off and there is nothing down the hole in the stalk but looking at the end bit i removed it looks like there should be a spring maybe ?
As I said on the D9 (mk2) it's not possible to retrofit due to the multiplex wiring and everything running through the BSI

i have the car booked into pug on tues so will report back on what they say.
Re: fuel comp help please
It's probably all multiplexed in CAN Bus or something. Probably just a software update for the BSI, if the ECU supports it. If the ECU speaks VAN Bus to the trip computer - like D8s with computers (Bosch MP3.2, MP7.2) - then it'll never work unless you rip out the D9s display and fit a D8 one in there. But then you'd have to figure out how to get speed and fuel level signals before they get digitised...
