Re: 97" crystal/tinted rear lights
how to make yourself a set of clear rear lights
bits you need:
clear mastic, red bulbs to replace the clear ones, hacksaw, pliers, and you may need safty glasses.
cut a small slit at the side of the red lense about 2 inches in and give it a tap with the pliers till it breaks

break the top layer of the lens off with the pliers watch your eyes cos bits will go every where

then run a small bead of clear mastic round the bottom layer to seal it up (it does dry clear)

fit back on to the pug and change the bottom 3 bulbs for the red ones job done

hope this helps
let me know how you get on.

Thats a water leak waiting to happen
I'd rather put lexarse lights on than do that!

Re: 97" crystal/tinted rear lights

It's a good effort, but it's illegal!
I know you've replaced the clear bulbs with red ones, but the reflectors need to be red too....
Sorry

Re: 97" crystal/tinted rear lights
The bulb reflectors don't have to be red, there just needs to be a red reflector (or 2?) on the back of the car - which is what the big off-horizontal strip is there forDaiRees wrote:It's a good effort, but it's illegal!![]()

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: 97" crystal/tinted rear lights
The lights still have all the focussing for the bulbs so, with red bulbs it's probably ok. Those reflectors don't look red though. Maybe they're legal, maybe they're not, I'd rather not have to argue with some copper who's falling short of his quota...

What, the big horizontal reflectors that he's taken the red covering off so now they show white? Illegal 'cos you can't have white reflectors on the back and illegal 'cos he hasn't got red reflectors on the back.mjb wrote:The bulb reflectors don't have to be red, there just needs to be a red reflector (or 2?) on the back of the car - which is what the big off-horizontal strip is there forDaiRees wrote:It's a good effort, but it's illegal!![]()

Re: 97" crystal/tinted rear lights
Oh christ I missed that. Yeah that's illegal and dangerous because it'll look like reversing lights. Thankfully the first copper that gets behind him at night should be pulling him overDaiRees wrote:What, the big horizontal reflectors that he's taken the red covering off so now they show white? Re: 97" crystal/tinted rear lights
Thinking about it maybe he could mask off and paint over the reflector bits of the cluster (body coloured a-la D9 maybe
, or chrome strips or summat?), then add stick on red reflectors somewhere else on the back....

That'd work, you could be really fancy and have the reflectors within the O of PEUGEOT and the 0 of 406!DaiRees wrote:Thinking about it maybe he could mask off and paint over the reflector bits of the cluster (body coloured a-la D9 maybe, or chrome strips or summat?), then add stick on red reflectors somewhere else on the back....

Umm, how small? Listen out for the crunch when it's parked at night.
I'm sure you can get translucent red paint.
