Help!! Non starting 406 1.9 TD

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Help!! Non starting 406 1.9 TD

Post by GGG »

Have a problem with my P Reg 406 1.9 TD. No Fuel getting through and the glow plugs arent working.
The little black box next to the ECU had water in it and 2 of the terminals have corroded away.

What does this unit control. I will get one but need to know if it controls pump and glow plugs or am going of in the wrong direction :?:

The immobiliser has been rewired and it has always started fine without it.

Any info appreciated.

Thanks

Don't know what that unit does G but I'd check all your fuses for starters :?

Might be worth winding a bit of silicone in there to stop it happenning again!

I can see it in the pics in Haynes but what is it?

Not sure about silicon, maybe some water-repellant spray?

most probably will be the control unit for the glow plugs, as they have to have a controlled voltage which cuts off after the engine has started

AFAIK that's somewhere near the battery.
