Very true. But from your initial description it sounded like the bottom hose

Not too good, I hope you're not in head gasket territory.
What's the temperature gauge say when it's at running temperature? Is the top hose getting hot? Rad fans kicking in?

Yes top hose getting hot, rad hot top and bottom, heaters are blowing hot, thermostat tested opening ok!! No sludge in the oil and no smoke out of exhaust.

Only does this after a good drive round ?? Didnt get above 90 degress on gauge.

I think I'd better suggest something easy to fix while my luck's in. Umm, expansion tank cap, oh yes, the springs go weak eventually and a slight pressure increase due to the hot weather will show it up. (sh+t, it's GB, I bet it's raining :( )

Sounds like you need to get the protective cowling from the dealers. It's about £15 if memory serves.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
