Trying to get my remote fob/plip locking working!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I didn't know that, thanks Zoomer! :)
You may be able to help me actually.
I've got a '96 D8.
When I unlock the car off the plip it does not de-immobilise the car. I've put the code into the keypad for auto dis-arm but it makes no difference. Have you ever come across this?
Cheers,
Matt

I'd look at the wiring that goes into the back of the keypad - I'd hazzard a guess that perhaps one or two are boken!

I also discovered that whilst the keypad worked, even once I'd completed the procedure to enable automatic disarm when using the remote control it simply wouldn't work.

Fast forward 6 months and I'm out with my good lady. Flip the keypad down and there's no lights  , take the keypad unit out and discovered that 4 wires leading into the harness had broken away  Managed to get some contract made with the broken wires and got car started. Carried out procedure (learnt on here) to remove the requirement for needing keypad ever again.......

Sorry to dig up an old topic but I'm still desperate to get my remote locking working. I've been looking on the proviso that if I get find a D8 with a keypad immobiliser.....I'll be able to take the keys/fobs and the central locking ECU and it will work in my '96 D8. Looking back at some of the posting that doesn't appear likely! :(

With engine running, press "door locking" button on key. I believe that the car then "reads" to the key. Worth a try.

Should do, may be worth taking a trip to the breakers if you've got one local. The only thing it won't do is disarm the immobiliser off the fob as this info can only be written to the key once.

Any D8 fob and central locking ECU should be ok I would have thought.

So if I get hold of an ECU off a breaker and a key fob off Ebay, I should be able to program it myself?

My key lights up and the batteries are new but still no open sesame. So I'm guessing the ECU might be knacked.

Okies, I pulled the cover and snapped the assorted ECUs. For clarity, could y'all have a peek at the attached photo and tell me which one is responsible for receiving the signal from my bleeper? Cheers.

Also, *BUMP* to my previous question :)

*BUMP* again

Does anyone know, or is anyone able to look up the part number for the 1.9TDi remote locking receiver? Or does anyone have a photo of it?

(Or failing that can anyone suggest which box, on my picture, is the receiver?)

Chap wants to sell me one, but says he has a box of ECUs and isn't sure precisely which one I need...

I take it you tried Service Pox, if not stick this into the search box 00006552ZJ.

Umm, stab in the dark here, how's abouts that box with "ANTISCAN" written on it?
