Sounds like a tough one. Something missing from the design you were given. Perhaps you could get a bl**d s*cking le*ch (solicitor) on the case.
Consider this:

If the missing schematic was dishonestly withheld to obtain a cheaper price ... think about this.
Not easy to prove and depends what is more important the client or your bottom line.
Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.
Thanks V6exec your encyclopedic knowledge never fails
I hadn't considered that the information may have been dishonestly witheld but it would explain a few things I must say (the fact that we've found out that our client is losing money on the contract springs to mind) and it would be a way for them to claw a bit back using us.
I thought it was his mistake and he didn't want to have to go back to his superiors "cap in hand"
My collegue is meeting them tomorrow, I won't go to the meeting in case I accidently slip and stab a Blue Biro into this guy's neck

lmao i'd love to see the accident report on that one

but seriously hope it all goes ok welly

For future works it may be best appending to the quote a list of the documents used to prepare it and limit the quote to those works only. Not in package listed = not in quote = extra over.

Well I'm kind of off the hook I suppose....the client conceded that there was some information missing and they have issued a variation order for £8,400.00
When I said £10k earlier that was the actual cost to the company in a loss - this is now reduced to £1600.00 but we reckon we could just about break-even meaning we don't make any overheads and profit but we don't lose either
Altogether now.....PHEW!

Being wayyyyy over qualified for my position here it was a shock to me (I have found that the initial mistake was my fault, but got lucky with this extra dough from the client) as I normaly piss this job and have never made an error like this in 7 years.
I'll take it as a shot across the bow
