I'm not really sure, isn't the reduction gear part of the motor? They usually have a clutch inside them, did you try stopping it turning with your hands?

Makes sense to me, but then the language barrier is my every day hell. He's got a new motor for his air recirc flap, the trouble is the flap only needs half a turn but the motor does two full turns before coming to a stop and, if he fits it, it's going to wind the flap closed then carry on turning and grind the teeth off.

RCC, when you opened up the old one did you discover what stops it turning? Maybe this is something you can change on the new one.

Or Peugeot have sold you the wrong part?

Will 2 full turns equal half a turn of the flap though? with the gearing? there should be a limit switch either in the motor or maybe on the flap shouldn't there? the flap will want to be either open or closed not somewhere inbetween.

I think most people disconnect the whole thing in the end (especially if the gears are worn on the flap part as this would require the dash out to replace (I think).

Sadly, there is no wiring diagram that I can find. Looking in Service Box (Peugeot's online parts catalogue) I can't see any additional wiring there either, just the recirculation flap motor (Pug really do call it "reduction gear") and the blower (or " air puller" ), so I can't see any switches.

If the old one did the same then maybe there's something we're not seeing, perhaps you should try it but be ready to disconnect the wiring if it looks wrong.

I've never even seen mine! Where are all these people when you need them? :(
