<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

I only mentioned the dreaded ECU word as this is probably what the dealer numpties will think of replacing (needlessly) next

We get such shoddy service in this country and there seems little we can do about it (especially with cars).

Here we have a case of:

"is it fixed?"
>"yes there are no faults to report"
"but it doesn't go like it did before"
>"there are no known faults"
"you've not fixed it properly"
>"we diagnosed the fault with our computer, replaced the part, and now there are no new faults"
"but it doesn't go like it did before"
>"computer says nohhhhhh...."
"I'm going to complain to HQ"
>"Ooh say hello to Paul for me, bye bye"

It's just that no-one seems to care anymore :frown:

What happened to the garage foreman who would take the car for a spin, realise what you mean, then bollock the lad who did the work and sort it all out for you properly? they just all seem to hide behind each other (and their flipping computer thing).

hmmm....

This whole fiasco worries me. When Niz has referbed me a turbo for my baby, I'm not confident enought to install it myself, so it'll have to go into a garage to have it done....and also the cambelt whilst it is there. By what has gone on, isn't that a full invite to bend me over their reception desk, loosen my belt and insert whatever they decide?!

By some good luck, I've found a garage who is willing to install a customer supplied part as I played on the line of 'it's a hard one to source' but then they thought it was a diesel... so I'm not so sure now. As it is a customer supplied part, if they f*ck it up somehow, I've got no comeback as they'll just say it was the part supplied which was the issue. Thinking ahead, can anyone think of a way to cover my back, or should I just go in expecting the worse and be supprised if they don't mess it up? :?
