It used to be 10k a year, now it's 12 (but probably due to drop, considering the price of liquid gold these days)

Btw, a double congrats - one for the miles (so low!) and one for remembering to pull over and take a snap at the right moment (I always remember one mile too late  )

Why thank you all for your kind comments. Warms my heart to know that you've got the best intrests of my pug and I at the forefront of your collective mind :D

Actually she's at the Pug doctor's today, once again the misfire reached a level which made me want to sell the car, so I thought that Citroen Peugeot Specialist in Bridgend that Neil was telling us about should have a look at it. The nice man just rang to inform me that they didn't actually feel the misfire when they tested it, but did detect a hesitation at low revs, and that that their investigation has revealed that the engine speed sensor is not giving reliable readings, so he's ordered one up and it's going back on Friday morning to have it fitted. Hope that'll cure it!

Gotta get myself back to Bridgend to pick it up now

Laters! :D

So he changed the sensor on Friday and......

...it hasn't made any difference at all

So today I took it back down and we put it back on the computer, which now reports "no fault found".

I had a long discussion with the very nice man about what else could be causing it but he said exactly what I've always said, that without any indication from the computer you may as well just start changing randon bits, potentially throwing money down the drain.

I love the car but I really wish I'd never bought one with this bloody rare engine.

Bugger :(

I'm wondering what goes wrong on other GDI engines, the idea seems to be as old as the hills, so I wonder if it's worth having a squint to see what makes them misfire. Alfa owners consider the MAF to be a consumable on the 147/156 JTS. I bet you changed yours last year... VW FSIs seem to be prone to coil pack failures and rodent damage  Renault IDEs have problems with immobilizers, throttle position sensors and coilpacks. Mitubishi GDIs seemed to be plagued with injector problems and carbon deposits on the exhaust valves (worse when cold).

Sorry if this seems a bit simplistic but it would drive me nuts too.
