Car transporter

Hi all, i was just wonderin if anybody knows if the 406 can handle towing a twin axel transporter, loaded wth a another car of course. Would it do much damage? any1 already tugging 1 about? cheers!

depends on a couple of things really:
what engine you got under the bonnet;
and how heavy the car and trailer that your planning on towing?

most of these 406's seem quite capable of towing their own weight (about 1.5 ton)

its a 1.9TD, i was thinking of picking up a 306, nt sure how much the trailer weighs tho. A friend of my sister owns a transporter, i think he mite do me a gud deal, mite work out cheaper in the long run.

I am buying a horse trailer. How can I find out my car’s towing capacity? Every vehicle manufacturer has to give a maximum towing limit. This can be found in the vehicle handbook and also on the chassis plate, usually found under the bonnet. The information can be presented in a variety of ways. The clearest is when the plate gives the towing limits for both braked and unbraked trailers. Sometimes the car’s Gross Train Weight (GTW) is given. This is the combination of the car’s Maximum Permitted weight (MPW) sometimes called Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) and the trailers Gross Trailer Weight (GTW). To get the towing limit simply deduct the MPW from the GTW. It is an offence to exceed the car’s towing limit.

A horse trailer? Is that a trailer pulled by a horse or a trailer for a horse towed by a car?? I once went for a ad for a "car trailer", turns out it was a trailer to be pulled by a car, it was about big enough for a bag of cement

Those funny little wooden things are quite common with their comedy wheels and antique pine finish usually being dragged along by an old duffer in a 1.4 Rover 25 and usually brimming with twiggs and crap that would easily fit in the boot

And im 20 yrs old in a 1.9td 406 estate, i just dont want to get the inside ripped/torn/dirty coz i then have to repair/clean it! Its a case of prevention is better than cure.

I'll have you know that mine is actually marine ply

But i do still drive like a lunatic with the trailer on, and still beat chavmobiles off the lights especially as it really pisses them off when i do it at the next set
