Anyone got one of these Sun shields?

Post by Welly »

Saw these on holiday recently and wondered if they help much so imagine my delight when Mrs Welly presented me with one bought from Tescos for £3.00 ish.

They do actually help and reduce the dashboard temp by loads :o . Ever noticed that heat on your face? it's radiating from the black dashboard! I jumped in the car after work yesterday where it was sat in the sun all day and although the interior was hot it wasn't unbearable and I noticed the a/c was more instant because the dash and ducting was cooler.

A tad nurdy?..it comes with two suckers and folds away to nothing..

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

It'll only fall down once... I got one from the vets 'cos we're such good customers, it's pink, made out of corrugated cardboard and says "Eukanuba", shouldn't they be paying me to advertise?

I just use a "Tooheys Extra Dry" beach towel over the dash and then put up the rear sun blind (if you have it)...Keeps the car much cooler and protects the plastics! Also consider putting some auto glym on the dash to help protect it - some people even put sun screen on there but I don't think that the oil content of it would be that great for the plastics!

Some looser's actually paid to sit on the 'net all day and post ads on other people's forums. Hey, I could do that!
