pička materina!
Looks like the people with no lives are targetting us, I suggest we ignore them and resist the urge to tell them how pointless their existance is.

Indeed! making comments just seems to look like interest in their eyes
And how the hell can you post 4 replies (with linky's) per minute? I know I couldn't. Mind you I suppose the more nerdy you are the faster you are at the interweb.
Saw a programme last night about how the very first web browser was developed (Mosaic Netscape) and they beat Mirosoft to it! but MS got them by giving away IE4 to every PC manufacturer with their MS operating system so IE became the "norm" over night
The even showed rare footage of meetings and interviews where Bill Gates would speak up! apparently if he doesn't call you a "supid idiot" or your idea's "the stupidest thing I've ever heard" then he likes you, a bit

NCSA Mosaic, which was not the first web browser. The first browser was called WorldWideWeb and was written by Sir Tim Berners-Lee a few years earlier. Lynx (still a popular text-only browser on unix platforms) was released before Mosaic, as I think was Viola and Midas. NCSA Mosaic was however the first browser which supported embedding images and text on the same page.Saw a programme last night about how the very first web browser was developed (Mosaic Netscape) and they beat Mirosoft to it
The Mosaic/Netscape code was only once called "Mosaic Netscape" iirc as it was the name assigned to a pre-release of Netscape Navigator 1.0
By the way did you know that Firefox is a direct descendent of Mosaic? When Netscape were dying, they open sourced the code for Netscape Communicator, which got taken up by a group of people called the Mozilla Foundation. From there, the Mozilla browser+email program was released, and then a few people decided to make a product with just the browser component and they called it Firefox (originally called Phoenix and then Firebird)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Yes they did talk about Sir Tim (an Englishman
) I was refering, with my limited knowledge, to the first browser which was user friendly with pictures and the like whereas the other versions at that time were all text only and aimed at business I think.
They said Netscape was swallowed up by AOL in the end.
Impressive knowledge there m - you should get a job in computing.....oh wait.

And pi$$ed off a lot of people... Hey, so what if it's sh!t, it's free! Then maybe not including it would make their O/S a bit more affordable...Welton wrote:...MS got them by giving away IE4 to every PC manufacturer with their MS operating system so IE became the "norm" over night...
