How to get a Proper Shine on it.

Discuss the 406's Bodywork stuff in here (what parts fit what, what can be interchanged with what etc etc).

Talking of headlight washers, mine has got all the tubing in place for them but no jets on the bumper, just blanking plates :?
I wonder whether it was part of the spec on the exec tubby?

You mean these "magic" blanking plates? :cheesy:

 gently pull out and towards the radiator grille and then they just slowly pop back in on a spring damper thing 8)

I've never looked into my non functioning washers to much as everyone said they just make a right mess of you bonnet etc :| I'm guessing there's a second pump on the washer bottle for these and it siezes up.

My exec tubby estate had the jets and the pipework, but it wasn't connected up, however my dads exec tubby does have them and they work. I haven't had the V6 exec wheelarch lining off (yet), but my theory is that the headlamp washers use a pump that sits in the same place as the rear washer pump - or it's the same pump with different wiring.

The operation is simple - if the lights are turned on (sidelights will do it) and you hit the windscreen washer, the other motor will fire up too for a while (it turns itself off after about 2 secs) and the water pressure will push the headlamp jets out of the bumper, squirting everything within a 5 mile radius when they emerge

I wouldn't recommend levering the magic blanking plates out of a D8 - I tried to see what they were on my estate and smashed the brittle plastic hinge mechanism in one of them. If you're that fussed about them (they do look funky in action!) I'd hook up 12v to the pump they're connected to and see what happens

Well at least you can say you've got powered headlight washers, working or not :)

We should add you to the list of "blissfully unaware Peugeot 406 features"

A bit like earwiggy eh? :P

While looking for windscreen squirters as one of mine on the D8's bust, I came across diagram D8A 6 64D 01A, no more guessing necessary, it's got two pumps. Hmm, I tried putting that in the search box to see if it's easy to find it that way:
The word d8a has not been found.
Proposals: dam
Damn indeed! Ok, the magic pump's part 643464, £38.07 (plus your first born)

The squirter's £1.26

Any joy with these things? I did manage to get window washer pump apart on my D9 (they don't work too well with a pebble in them) with judicial use of a hacksaw (£29.32! It don't grow on smegging trees! :x ).
