Folks,
I have recentley bought a hdi and the clutch pedal on my hdi went all the way down and changing gears became really difficult, i had to pull the pedal up and it was ok after that. I had it checked at a local garage and the chap said the clutch is not slipping and checked under the air filter housing for any clutch leaks and no leaks were found. He said it could be the clutch cylinder master, the car does have a high biting point but from reading th forums this seem to be the norm on these cars.
Can any one shed any light on what could be the problem? Also how much would it cost to change the timing belt?

Yeah, 406s have lovely high bite points so any problems are very obvious. It's almost certainly one of the cylinders causing it to bite on the floor. Find yourself another D9 in a scrappy and raid its cylinder. Grab both if you want to be on the safe side, but failures seem more common on the master

Thnaks for that, also can you let me know how much it will cost too change the timeing belt and kit?? One garage said £250 and one said £322 (includimg the water pump) inc parts and labour.

Hi Londoner,
I was given two prices - which I can't remember
- by a good local garage: one 'with all rollers', one without. The one with is well recommended I gather, and was not much more expensive. Not 100% sure what these 'rollers' are ... tensioner I guess and stuff like that.

Prices vary from garage to garage, but I'd get the water pump, tensioner, and pulleys (if any) changed while you're at it.
