A Dry Weekend?

The MET office is saying it could be a dry weekend for once! This may let me do so work on the car (hangovers depending, as usual)

1. Silicone sealant in the aerial mount (if I can find a way of doing it without help)
2. Clean the throttle pot
3. Clean the idle control valve
4. Change the alternator belt (GSF actually have one in stock. Allegedly...)
5. Sand the front brake pads down stop the buggers stop squealing every time I go round a bend
6. Clean the alloys. Well, one or two of 'em - my back doesn't like taking 4 wheels off
7. Clean the windscreen

Well it's been getting steadily hotter this week thanks to high pressure and southerly winds!

About bloody time :roll: I was out and about earlier practicing "nearly mounting curbs" and "smashing into the back of cars" during an episode of extreme Girl letching 8) why aren't they giving me the eye back anymore? I'm getting old :cry:

I cast a curse on weather forecasters, it's been cloudy & humid down here all week, bloody weather :frown:
I'll believe it when I see it if the sun comes out this weekend :roll:

A good reason to have a nice early night, get up tomorrow bright and early, have a nice big breakfast, then don your waterproofs...

Another bluddy dry weekend, it better start raining soon 'cos my rainwater butts are empty and I still have to pressure wash the rest of my garage roofs before I can waterproof them before I can paint them before bluddy winter comes :x

I just removed the aerial and put a strip of insulating tape over the hole and poked the aerial through it. a bit of a heath robinson fix!

It's been pissing with rain here today! (And I forgot to bring the washing in last night :evil: )

Sunday - raining :evil:

been thinking for the aerial I might just see if I can find a bit of rubber I can poke the thread through then cut to shape after tightening. Seems less messy

Just the usual - "somewhere" well into double figures. I did however have 5 bottles of Eiken Artois before leaving the house. My god that stuff is gorgeous.

Not tried the Eiken yet!

Jeeez no wonder you had hang over! I can't really get past 7 now :) but hey, I'm a cheap date :lol: :lol: my body tells me when I've had enough so I just stop, then my body tells me it's time to go sleep so turns the lights off :lol: :oops: :oops:

It's godly. There's a pub in Manchester just round the corner from the comedy club that sells it on tap, and larger Tescos are selling 4x bottles for £3, but I've not worked out the best temperature/pour for it yet as it doesn't taste anywhere near as good as the draught

Do you ever get "fizzy beer syndrome" (FBS)? this is where your pint of home-poured stella tastes too fizzy :x I've settled for a pour temperature of 6deg C in an approved (occassionaly pre-chilled) "Chaliss" style glass (I've also got 3 traditional flute style pint glasses). I pour with care at 45degrees for the first 1/3 of the pint and then pour with increased speed whilst extending the glass in a upright position, pouring generally to the centre of the drink for the remaining 2/3's 8) the finished pour should present a 25m deep head at the top and the drink should be smooth, with rising bubbles along it's centre line and not overly "fizzy".

Correction of FBS after a completed pour can be acheived by swirling the drink after a few slurps from the glass but this is not endorsed as appropriate behavior and can result DBS (dead beer syndrome) which some consider more upsetting than the former.

I've got a pile of Stella glasses (including the 0.5l tankard I got from the brewery in Leuven) but I usually just drink it from the can because it's less washing up :P

My drinks fridge maintains a chilly 3.8 degrees at the rear (next to the element) and a much better 4.5c at the front, so I pull the cans out 2 at a time, drink the warmer one first and by the time that's gone (not long!) the other one's at the right temperature

Bottles of Eiken though are best consumed from a glass, as bottles are a pain to tidy up. Also the glass allows for a short swill to take the FBS away. The bubbles are still a lot bigger and rougher than those in the pub though
