406 HDI 110 Oil leak

Assuming its a turbo leak, how much would a recond turbo cost including fitting?

Looks like about £350 plus 4 to 5 hours labour (ouch!)

General Q: Where exactly do turbos leak from, and does it really signify approaching failure??

A: Looks like it's from the central housing, caused by coking of the lubricating oil due to not letting it cool off, death due to seals failing. Bummer.

had the car serviced today, total cost inc vat is £190 (forte flush inluded), BMW 10/40w semi synthetic oil, unipart items, the onl;y advisory was front brakes will need changing after 5000 miles.

I asked about the oil leak he said he was not sure but 2 things possible, it could be 'oil mist' (first time i ever heard of this) or tthe trubo is leaking. He also said the turbo seem sfine and could go on for another 50k!!!! He also said something about the back wheel hand brake not being adjusted, an dthat previously it was only adjusted on one of the wheels and not the other so he has sorted that out as well

Overall he says its a good car???

I gave up after that.
