Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Adoo. fellow in car poshness of first gen game boy graphical sat nav technology,

I too have the error of sat nav cd not found or unreadable, i do find on a cold day that it takes a few attempts to read the cd i spose this is due to condensation build up, as shiny surfaces do love to get a bit cloudy on a cold day, in any case in the winter i chuck an old coat inside the boot over the back wheelarch where the sat nav drive lives. Reading through the forum i too will probably have to strip my player down as i imagine its a bit dirty in there, i only assume this is the problem as the cd luckily came with the car, Its still in its original dvd style box with registry card ! and in quite good nick :cheesy: as far

as cleaning CD's and reparing to an extent, on the cheap mind as i know blockbuster video ( well dvd rental place now ) do a cd scratch repair for about a fiver as do gamestation for about the same price. But if your a tight arse like me and a bit experimental i use T-cut. As strange as it sounds but if you think about it a paint surfce aint far off a finish of a CD specially a clear coat polymer base paint. In anycase without going too deep into the atomic similarities of paint and CD finishes i can gurantee it works, from experience of helping my mate DJ at a party, a request came up, the cd was shagged an by chance, and i mean chance i had my car polishing stuff in me boot ( from valeting his car no less ) T-cutted the cd, whacked it in and played it did. Thin Lizzy never sounded so good.

Hope this is of use to some, also Brasso makes for a very good failry deep scratch remover on paintwork as its a little more course, so if you want something between T-cut and 1200 grit wet n dry, brasso is ya stuff, better still is the brasso you get with the " loft insulation " soaked in a tin.

recession, brings out the tight arse in everyone 8)
