Look at the state of my 2.5 yr old a/c condenser already

Post by Welly »

Investigating some other problem with my car at the weekend I was bloody pissed off to see this....

Spot the green gunge of death (again  )...
Image

Image

Bottom left front, leaking from the bracket position - green staining..

Bottom left right, again at the bracket..
Image

Close up, it's worse on the right hand side (again  )
Image

I cannot believe it's only lasted 2.5 years and only 18000 miles :frown:

This was the only good thing about the car (or so I thought) as it had a brand new condenser I thought I wouldn't have to go near the a/c in the rest of the cars life!

I had detected the compressor was a tad noisy the other day but I believed it to be low ambient temps but in fact it was scavenging for gas :frown: can't use it now.

The garage who fitted this thing did it under warrenty on a 50/50 cost basis and I can only assume they used the shitiest cheapest crap they could find :x

I can't tell you how annoying this is :x

Fookinhell welly thats a right bastard !! and having spent 2yrs getting
my ac up and running, and a lot of money,(due to so called experts
inability to diagnose faulty pressure switch)can understand how you
feel. The condensor was the only part where i used a non genuine item
so am begining to regret that after seeing your pics

The aluminium must be wafer thin and I think the vibration at the bracket positions has worn through already :x

I am totally pissed off about it because I thought it was all sorted :x

If we all carry on like his we'll be replacing cheap condensers every 2 years at £300.00 a pop

I think I've found out the hard way here but a lesson learned I feel and maybe a word of caution for us all :|

Very true welly, and as my 406 is now running as it should,ie everything working
i wont be getting rid of it in the near future (2yrs on still love driving it )
so if i suffer the same problem it will be replaced with genuine part .

How much    I had mine fitted around 2 years ago but i only paid £120 and the guy was mobile. All condensor are waffer thin as i was told when i had mine replaced. They are and should be upto a geniune part standard as mine was the same as you buy from peugeot but without the fancy packaging.

Sorry to hear that welly

To say you are pissed i think is an understatement :!: :!:

thats bad, i'd be tempted to take it back and complain. it should last lot longer than 2.5 years!

maybe the over did the bolts or missed some padding or something when the fitted it!

Fipping heck £120.00 is cheap "fitted" :o

I paid halves (£150.00) and was happy to under the circumstances. One other place I rang to check said £300.00 at the time too :|

And I thought about complaining (that's why I took the pics tbh) but after 2.5 years and 18000 miles they'll just tell me to put it up my bottom

Tis' all crap though all the same - but thanks everyone for your comments.

I'd still have a complain, it should last lot longer than 2.5 years! the worse that can happen is they tell you to go away, the best is money of or free replacement (yes i live in a dream world sometimes!)

What a lot of bollox Welly! They must have balls'd up fitting it or there was a flaw in the condensor! I'd try for a refund or another 50/50!
