catergorise items ?
Hi,I love this site and it has helped me out a lot,but i would like to see a category for each engine,eg"90 and 110 hdi, engine problems,1800 and 1905,engine problems,2088 (or 2.1) engine problems, and then you have the good old V6 engine problems,at the moment because the problem does not state which engine that people have the problem with in the Heading,i find that you have to troll through everybodies problems until you find the engine that you have the problem with,(am i making sense here,? begining to feel like a der brain now). What i would expect to see is something along the lines of,2.1 td help required or 110HDi help required, instead of "Help" or "misfire on my diesel"do you know what i mean now ?.What do you think ? I think that it would be nice just to go straight to the type of engine that you have.Everything else seems to be of a muchness, like bodywork or trim or brakes could be the same problem as everybody else has,It is just that i find when i read through the engine problems, that each type of engine seems to have it's own problems.your thought's please ! !.. Best regards Ray

What V6 engine problems?smudger110a wrote:and then you have the good old V6 engine problems

Seriously, a lot of what's said on here can apply to many models, especially when you look at the model groupings - 1.9TD/2.1TD, the HDi lumps, the XU10 family, etc. Advice on a dodgy crankshaft sensor, throttle pot, air box, etc is also relevant to every 406...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

I always think it's a bit wrong to group everything under "Engine and Mechanical Talk", but it doesn't really matter, if you want to see problems on a particular engine put what it is in the search box, it's sure to come up in the thread eventually
What bugs me is if I can't work out if it's a D8 or D9, that can make a lot of difference. Ooh, it's a V reg...
Then again, I don't like forums where no-one will talk to you until you post exactly what you have first. It's very easy to forget the basics when your car just went "kerpow"!

I agree with that, it's a nice laid back atmosphere here and no-one has got their head up their @rse!steve_earwig wrote:Then again, I don't like forums where no-one will talk to you until you post exactly what you have first. It's very easy to forget the basics when your car just went "kerpow"!
