Can anybody help, Last August whilst on Holiday in France the cat broke on my 1998 406 SX TD, I took it to a Peugeot dealer and they replaced the cat (640 Euro) with a Pug part. Only thing is, just had a service at the beginning of September and been told the cat is faulty (making a muffled rattling noise from inside).
I have emailed Peugeot customer service for help (over a week ago), but had no reply. Is it unreasonable to expect the cat to last longer than just over a year ? As the first one lasted for nine years, does anybody have any advice what I could do next rather than pay out anoyher £460 for a new one, and if I leave it could it damage the engine.
Thanks

£460
bloody hell
try here
i don't know what anyone else thinks but i have never had a problem fitting "pattern parts" to any of my cars and only go to the dealer when i can't get the part from anywhere else
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!!!!
Re: broken Cat
Yeh, I know, but when your in the middle of France with the car full of kids and sounding like a tank and it is pouring down and the wife giving me earache about "why didnt you check it before we set off" If they had said I needed a new car I would have probebly bought one. My local Peugeot dealer does a pattern part for £150 inc VAT fitted, But I would prefer not to spend any more money if I can help it, but I appreciate the advice.

no that's not what i meant at all if i caused offence then i certainly didn't mean to
i understand that when on holiday in a strange country and something goes wrong then you usually unfortunately end up at the main dealer
what i was trying to say was that £460 for a replacement here in the uk was a ridiculous amount of cash and that in the event of peugeot customer services doing their favourite thing and saying sorry nothing we can do you should shop round and get a pattern part
