Dead Battery

Post by londoner1 »

My car failed to start this morning, i knew i might be in trouble as i have not driven the car in 5 days and the battery was had run down. Breakdown services cherged it for me and the car started fine, they ran tests to show it was over 14v when engine idling. The suggested top have it checked fully, anyway when they were charging it and when i cranked th eengine over, white smoke came out from back of engine bay, where some cables are stuck agiast the driver side.

I though oh s***T, the electrics/bsi could be fried, however the engine started fine and had the battery replaced and all is ok.

Any ideas where the white smoke could have come from, is it from the egr valve????

Absolutely no idea - what did the smoke smell of? Melting vinyl based wiring insulation is a fairly unique smell.

WHite exhaust smoke is usually water vapour. Maybe condensation evaporating off the manifold??
