I now have both - we've got a '97 2.1 tdi Executive which is much loved and still a joy to drive, and last week I picked up a very tidy '99 2.0 HDi 110, which is a D9 of course. I would have gone for another D8 2.1, but in these straightened times I want 50mpg. Though as others have said on here, if you end up spending a fortune keeping the thing running it's a false economy...
It's only got to last two years without costing me an arm and a leg. If it does that, then the economy alone will save me enough money to be able to keep my FireBlade. If it doesn't, then I'm going to be bikeless, and that would be a disaster. Well it would for me, I don't imagine the wife would be too unhappy.
Have a look through
Honest John and see if you can find a car in the last 10 years that doesn't have a potential disaster lurking somewhere, especially when everything went multiplex (I direct you to the Renault Laguna for maximum comedy).
Yes, very familar with Mr HJ, and you're absolutely right, there isn't a car on there which doesn't get some sort of panning.
Which reminds me, I hear through the grapevine here that some new A series Merc's engines aren't making it past their first service and Mercedes are doing their damnedest to hush it up.
Ooooh, automotive gossip, love it...
