Help please with remote key fob problem?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Help please with remote key fob problem?

Post by rapport25 »

Just went to fill up at my local peterol station and on my key fob the smaller button is no longer there :( had a look around the petrol forecourt with some very strange looks  . So it looks like its a trip to the local steelers  Any idea if i could buy a replacement button and how much they would be? Thanks Rappy 8)

A new key is likely to cost you well over a ton  Could you not not get a replacement casing off ebay and swap the innards and blade over from your key?

If it-s just the rubber button and there-s still a microswitch inside, the same thing happened to me but I got a watch repairer to put a lump of rubber in there.

Yes have seen them on e bay. That is one option. Also a watch repairs is another. I will pop to the local steelers and see if i can buy the button seperate. If not i will buy one from e bay. Thanks 8)

There's no separate buttons. What's happened is the rubber has rotted around the button area and fallen off. The best option's to just grab a key off ebay and switch the front parts around

Mine has just done this. Went to the stealers who said good news, you can buy the bits from us. Bad news, it will be £60. Went down to the scrappy, found a 406 with its keys, took the bits I needed and a couple of key batteries as well and paid £2. Now it works fine and I have a spare battery too. Took about ten minutes to save £60ish quid.

Have to admit I have spent some time walking around with a 406 button held in with blu-tack ;)
