So, you mean get it hot to free the bolts off, then let it cool off again before going any further.
Why do I feel like an episode of CSI? "I know what it is, you know what it is, most of our audience know what it is but we're going to explain it for the benifit of anyone watching who doesn't know their ar..terial spray from their cast off"
Bleedin' obvious HDi bleed screws.

I have a brand new genuine pug radiator and bottom hose, purchased from fleabay
for the princely sum of £60
and before winter arrives (and because i can no longer
work on my cars the way i used to ) i shall be passing on the old girl to my mechanic,
thus negating any chance of wet sleeves, snapped bolts, fountains of steam, suicidal
trips along the motorway and drink induced sleepy polish truck drivers .

for 1/2 hour labour, I'd be taking it to the garage! 1/2 garage or 2/3 hour of my time messing around in dirty puddles....

Half hour's labour? That's about 8 quid
Btw the rebrushed cooling fan works a treat (just in time for winter!)

Re: What's the best way to drain the coolant?
Sorry folks, bad week this week
Picked the car up on Monday night..
New intercooler hose
Re-set throttle pot and clear codes (intermittant/see how it goes) - New one £58.00 next time
New coolant - que: huge pile of creamy/frothy sh*t spewing out of expansion bottle when they were venting
que: suspected head gasket, que: panic over, que: possible contamination from a mixed coolant top up
(wasn't me Sir)
Driving home:
Back box falls off in rainy traffic in town
Tuesday:
Get new back box fitted £49.00
Wednesday:
Suspected slight lack of performance even after £40.00 of V-Power
suspect due to cold weather (will monitor).
Coming soon:
Huge thread about all my recent jobs with pics.
Love,
Welly

Re: What's the best way to drain the coolant?
why couldn't they just put the damn throttle pot together with a couple of screws instead of sealing the damn thing?

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
