Please explain moremjb wrote:The thing to watch out for with "aero" style blades is you need to get a pair with as high a mounting as possible. The springs on the 406 wiper arms don't appreciate being held too close to the glass and as a result you end up with a wet triangle at the bottom of the screen where the blades are being held away from the screen by the arms
Lubing up the arm hinge seems to last for about 45 seconds

He means where the arm doesn't press the blade against the windscreen well enough & you get a swathe of unwiped screen (I guess!)rapport25 wrote:Please explain moremjb wrote:The thing to watch out for with "aero" style blades is you need to get a pair with as high a mounting as possible. Re: Peugeot 406 '95-04 RETRO FIT Flat
As anyone tried the blades yet? Im still pleased with mine

Re: Peugeot 406 '95-04 RETRO FIT Flat
Mine were good on the tubby, but I moved them to the V6 when I got it and found they sucked due to the aforementioned problem as the wiper arm is stiffer
Desperately need to find a new pair though, as after over 50k miles to them, these have lost the ability to wipe properly even where they are contacting...
Anyone know the 406 blade sizes off the top of their head? Think I might pop into Halfrauds on the way home

Re: Peugeot 406 '95-04 RETRO FIT Flat
Well, one's 22" and one's 24" but I'm not sure if they go the other way on your cars. Funilly enough, mine just turned up (hooray). That's only taken 16 days... Down to the post here I reckon. I had to go sign for something in the post office the other day and it had some strange new spelling of my surname on the form. So, never mind my name on my passport is spelt exactly the same as it is on the parcel, because their form has something different the had a 10 minute discussion on whether they were going to let me have it or not.

aye, 22/24. Forgot Halfords have those little flip-books...
Unfortunately all they have is their own brand flat wipers which from the illustration look like they sit waaaaaay too low. Nearly £40 too!

Re: Peugeot 406 '95-04 RETRO FIT Flat
Got mine from aceparts at a bargain price
It clearly states 24" drivers passengers 22" is that not right then?
Sometimes a little modification is in order. Which can be resolved by bending wiper arm or straightening the blade as they are quite curved when you get them. Or both if contact is not consistent wet triangle at the bottom of the screen
or not clearly wipping the path the blade travels in.
I have had no issues but have heard of a few hints and tips if you get problems to try the above

Re: Peugeot 406 '95-04 RETRO FIT Flat
There's not much room for arm bending on the 406
Anyone know if they're the same part? Might be easier just to get a puller (save doing a bluey!
) and switch my arms around

Re: Peugeot 406 '95-04 RETRO FIT Flat
Mission accomplished
They already got maximum brownie points for being so much easier to fit than the standard jobbies.
Anyway, this is what they look like (sorry about the glare):

They look a bit floppy but they only bend in one direction. Basically, they're just a normal blade in a funky holder:

After spending 10 minutes doing Chinese puzzles to get the old ones off, all you do with these is unclip the little cover, put the loop on the arm in the hole and then pull it back so it clicks in the holder, then close the little cover. It's quicker to do it than to write about it! The first time I tried them I got Matt's magic triangle in front of the rear view mirror. I was just about to give the arm some grief when I noticed it looked a bit strange, with the long one on the passenger side and the small one on the driver's. The ones I took off were only about an inch different but these are very noticable, so I swapped them and now they're fine:

Do I get a round of applause from the audience?

I'll take that as a no then
