I don't think they're the best, not by a long way, but they are a damn good all rounder. It's become the benchmark by which I judge every other "potential next car" that even flashes accross my mind. And the thing is that for whatever reason(s) very few stack up, be it ride, looks, cost, economy, servicing, size, spec... whatever. That's not to say the 406 isn't deficient in a few areas, it clearly is! I did consider changing it in the summer, but every car I looked would have been a compromise in some way or another. Loads of cars beat it in one or two areas but for my money (and budget actually) I've yet to find one that trumps the whole package

That's exacly the point, the "flaws" such that they are provide a bit of character that so many modern cars are completely devoid of. I too would happily have another one, but it'd have to have more toys than mine
