Estate rear headrests

Post by Doggy »

Have you noticed how many estates have these missing?
Their effect on rear visibility may explain this & I was tempted to lose them too, or at least the middle one.
Had some reservations with regard to safety of rear passengers, but then it's not that safe if you reverse into things either.
As is normal in these circumstances, I proceeded to dither resolutely...
Later discovered the dog guard wouldn't stay up :x
Tried allsorts to jam it in place, without success.
My daughter evetually told me to tie-wrap the dog gaurd to the headrest uprights. :)
(She does this with her 206SW).
Brilliant, I thought, you can learn from the younger generation.

Thinking I was on a roll, I asked how she managed to see behind her with headrests & all.....

Oh, I don't bother looking
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Mine would often spend months in the house because I took them out for maximum luggage space (inc. stuffing things in the rear seat footwells) and just forgot to put them back.

Never had any problems with this, in fact the rear visibility was a feeling of god-like omnipotence compared to the damn saloon I've got now. I could easily place myself within about 2 inch of something without breaking a sweat, and that was with a towbar fitted too. Now all I have to go by is the exhaust tone
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
