Electronic ignition fault

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Electronic ignition fault

Post by Pugman406 »

On the odd occasion the only key i have has not been wanting to start the car and comes up with the fault 'electronic ignition fault' ive found usually giving the key a bang starts it again, but should i be worried?

Also

Ive got a spare fob and a cut blade fitted in it, but i need to get the cars security code, and get the car coded to it, any ideas on cost?

Many thanks in advance

On the only occasion mine said 'electronic ignition fault' and didn't start it was the car's main battery.

Is this the credit card type thing that you're supposed to get with the keys?

Hasn't it got a scratch 'n sniff section Welly? I was told when I bought my pug not to lose the card or they'd be unable to do any electrical work on the car  .

Also when the wife's 206 had the BSI replaced I'm pretty sure we had to give them the card and when it came back it had been scratched (actually it's a peel off thingy but that doesn't sound so good :? ).

I got this today, after killing the engine and trying to start it again. Starter went fine, but there was no ignition just like an immobiliser. Got "ELECTRONIC IGNITION FAULT" on the display and a picture of a key and a box on the dash. Tried it a few times, then took the key out, put it back and it worked fine.

I was told that if you put the key in and turn the ignition too quick, then this is sometimes what causes it!

When my barrel was changed a few weeks ago I was told that if I hadn'y had the security code it would have been £16 for them to get a replacement
