AAALAAAARM!

Post by swiss »

What ho chaps! I'm back from my adventures on the high seas, battling pirates, giant squid and galley food!

Despite being left in a dockyard carpark for a couple of months, the Green Dream started first time I turned the key on Saturday. What a motor.

However, there's a warning light on me dash which, since I am bereft and the handbook, I can't identify. Please find crude approximation attached.

It seems to come on when I first start the car then flicker and go out after a few minutes of driving. Nothing's exploded so far, any idea what it could be?

It's the (dangerously) low coolant light. You need to stick some coolant in the expansion tank pretty much immediately, and try to work out where it's been leaking from.

The expansion tank filler's on the left when you open the bonnet, between the washer fluid and power steering fluid fillers. Don't open it when the engine's hot, especially without heatproof, waterproof gloves

Welcome back Swiss! Have a thread, with pictures an' evveryfink. I'm not sure if you'll need to bleed it, that'll depend on how much it's lost I suppose.

No it means you're bloody lucky your engine's not overheated and blown up. It takes just a few seconds to overheat when enough coolant has been lost.

Check the bottom hose swiss; this is the main culprit. (And welcome back! :D )
