It's probaly easier to upgrade the speakers, I think they're all 6" on the saloons (apart from the tweeters in the dash). You should be able to get fitting kits (try a search) for the fronts but I swapped my door speakers for some better ones in my D8 and just left the tweeters and it sounds pretty good (plus the two 6"s I stuck in the tailgate).

I had a quick search for adapters for the steering stalk and I'm a little confused. Maybe another Clarion?

ok this is kinda complicated and kinda not cd players that will work with the stalk are alpine jvc sony panasonic and pioneer BUT the cd player must have a stalk input so check that first
then get an autoleads adaptor kit it comes in 2 parts 1 is a head unit specific adaptor the other is a car specific adaptor you need both for it to work

now here comes the complicated bit and it might have just been my 406 none of the car specific adaptors listed fitted it but i found one from a fiat usless that worked if i remember right thats also a pug 806 but i might be wrong

ok so cost the adaptors retail at £34.99 for the pair and are prob cheaper on the interwebbythingie the cd players well i have no idea we sell them from £50 but i can't remember if they'll do stalk or not

like steve said change the speakers less grief

if you buying a new headunit, most of the sony's have remotes, you could then just use that..

yeah thats about right but you still need to get the autoleads adaptor for the remote stalk on the car to work with the sony
if you mean the sony infra-red remotes (like a small tv remote) then you have to go for higher end sonys to get them a: free and b: to work

I've got a Pioneer Deh-p8600mp. I'm using an Autoleads PC99-X24 stalk adapter on my D9. Dependong on your headunit (Sony, Pioneer, etc..) you will need a patch lead to connect to the stalk adaptor. I was lucky that my Pioneer supported this.

There is a loom available to fit Sonys (with the joystick remote, not the IR remote) so the original pug remote controls can be used. It's £30 or so.
