Door locks

Post by woodman »

I am having trouble with both front door locks, one has packed up completely. Anyone got any ideas where to get replacements without buying expensive ones from dealers?

When you say packed up do you mean using the key or the plip?

when I say the door locks packed up, I mean both remote and key! At present am using key, remote went west a couple of years back and it would be good to turn the key and get into car from driver's side again.

What actually happens when you try to unlock it?

well , what happens is, when we try to unlock/lock either door the key often goes right round with no resistence and you have to try again until it "catches". The driver's door has ceased up altogether and the key won't turn at all.
The remote stopped working only a couple of years ago, so the keys haven't had a lot of use really.
All replies, much appreciated.

There's an antitheft device in the locks that causes it to spin if all the tumblers haven't engaged. Spray a load of WD40 inside the keyhole and turn the key around; the exact same thing happenned to mine last week and the WD cured it. Worth a go!
