110 NOT STARTING

Car ran fine yesterday but did notice the diesel pump was realy loud when you turned the ignition on .
now today no noise and she won't fire up i'm sort of presuming pump failure .
whats this about tank slapping ?

I guess the idea is to shock the pump back into life, it's a very short-term solution tho.

So i'm guessing a new lift pump then ?
stupid question but this is the lift pump yes ? not the more expensive high pressure pump .
sorry for stupid questions but i've never worked on a diesel before .

Hold on, when you say the diesel pump was making a racket I assumed you meant the lift pump, are you saying it's the hp pump?

when i turn the ignition on loud rumble from the back seat area . (wife not in car )
went to start it yesturday silent from the rear wouldn't start .
now i have a loud noise from rear seat area and she starts and runs

"Sounds" like classic lift pump to me.

BTW she has done just over the 140,000 so its due to fail by all posts on here

Sounds like classic lift pump failure to me - If it grumbles it's knackered, end of story.

Just a quick up date . car took me to work then when i went to park round the back no noise no start
later that day she took me home so then refused to run again
so off to the factors £130 lighter new pump and no problems
