havin a prob with a 306 1.9td engine here, when she starts from cold she's has a 'studder' every 2 seconds or so for the first 30secs then she's prefect, also quite smokey when studdering.
good few peeps on the 306 website having this prob and im determined to find the route of the prob.
so far i've:
changed the glow plugs
fitted a clear fuel line to ensure theres no air in it
swapped injectors
and im now in process of swapping the fuel pump
after this i will fit new leak off pipes, as mine werent the tightest when i yanked them off.
he's an example vid of the prob.

Yep, that looks like unburnt fuel. If there's fuel then all it's lacking is ignition - if you hadn't have changed the glowplugs I'd have said they were the problem. Did you check the function of the glowplug post-heating relay? They should stay lit for a while after it's started. How does it start with the coolant temperature sensor disconnected?
