there are 2 different types of 406 a d8 (mk1 from 1996 to 1999) then the facelift model d9 (mk2 from late 1999 to 2004) hope this helps

Although if you go into the dealers and start talking about D8s and D9s you'll get blank expressions - it's the designations on their parts diagrams

My pug dealer referred to my 6 as a D9. I was impressed.

However when i refer to it as a D9 they know I know what i'm talking about and i get a bit more respect.
