Engine drag

Post by jibz »

Hi All,
Mine is 406 executive. The rides well but I feel this drag or loss of power whenever I turn on the A/C. What could be the cause, any idea pls ?
Can anyone also tell me what a TDC sensor does ??
Thanks a million.

TDC = "Top Dead Centre" and is key to the engine's timing.

Running the a/c will put a drag on the engine and more at this time of year as the refrigerant oil cannot circulate as easily. If it's a serious drag then I'd say the compressor is at fault - you'd need an a/c engineer to measure the live High and Low pressures with the engine running.
