LOWER BALLJOINT DUST COVER

Post by marco2002 »

I've just removed the n/s/f strut/spring on the my 406. I've just noticed that that dust cover on the lower balljoint has a tiny split in it. This was a brand new one fitted recently. Does anyone know if you can buy the dustcovers with the little clip that holds it on? I remember buying some of these a long time ago for a mini.

Seems a shame to just bin that balljoint when i could just replace the dust cover? There is no grease leaking. Anyone know where i can get one of these. Had a look online and there doesn't seem to be much on the web.

One thought that occured to me is to get a cheap balljoint off ebay and rob the dust cover off that......

thanks marco

What about some rubber glue (like with universal CV boot kit) if it split but no got grease on it?

Prob cheapest and quickest fix.

Hi
After searching on the internet i have found a company that supplies balljoint dust covers .southwestprops.co.uk
All you have to do is measure the size of the rubber.
Apparently they sell hundreds each week not hard to see why and at approx £3.50 Its a bit cheaper than binning the balljoint.
Be ordering a couple this afternoon.
Just thought i'd share that with everyone might come in useful for someone soon......

A pretty long bump this :)

The referenced site no longer exists in that name

My 406 has just failed its MOT.

"O/S/F Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover excessively deteriorated...."
N/S/F lower Ball joint dust cover excessively deteriorated..."

Any recommendations?
Cheers

Replace the anti roll bar linkage and buy a new ball joint cover from here......http://www.balljointboots.co.uk/
