Phillips Extreme Power H7 bulbs fitted

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

steve_earwig wrote:What is all this teknolodji nonsense? Wood (cheapest), oil or gas - that's your lot. Because we had a few warm winters loads of people switched to gas (particularly regarding the price of oil last year), that's worked out well tho, the price of oil has dropped and those lovely Ukranians have cut the gas supply. Telly full of MPs squabbling over who's fault it is that there's only a couple of weeks of reserve. Never mind what the f*** they're going to do about it
I've got gas c/h & a soild fuel stove that works the radiators too :cheesy:
Mind you I never seem to have the time to process enough wood for free, (which is 100% legal here), so I'm having to run on coal in the colder weather, at £15 a bag for 2/3 day's heat. :( (Stove is so much more powerful than the gas boiler we prefer it in winter, but can still set the gas to come on in the morning). 8)

Contrary to popular opinion, I'm not old enough to get winter fuel allowance, so I was hoping you could advise me of the correct way to apply for assistance for impoverished Pug owners through the Welton Foundation....

To me, with my 37 year old eyes, I'd rather pay £30.00 than stuff my car into a ditch or kill me or someone else cos I can't see so good :|

Totallt agree with what you are saying BUT!!!!!!!!!!

Welly just looked on there site they do the philips ones for £16 a pair. The bulbs I use are ace parts own xenon bulbs and are very good quality. And brighter than standard. Would not go back to standard bulbs.

I got a light out this morning so might upgrade to the xenon ones... don't mean to open up a can of worms here but do I want super white or ice blue? :?

Don't get bulbs which are supposed to give you a 'blue look' they actually reduce light output cos they simply have a blue filter over the glass

I can recommend Osram Nightbreakers and Phillips Extreme power. Hint: look for bulbs by the big manufacturers with proven +30, +50, +80% etc

I'm going to get a pic of my beam output and post it up :cheesy:

The other thing is the reference to xenon is simply the gas they use within the glass tube. Proper xenon's use a high voltage electric arc instead of a glowing filament. Generally a short length filament will glow brighter (more output) but has a shorter life as a result.

Just ordered the same Philips Extreme power bulbs from Ebay for £21.88. See Welly, Ebay is useful for something

Worth noting that Halfrauds are currently doing BOGOF on some of their own brand bulbs. The +50% ones are £19.99 and the +90% ones are £23.99. Though I'd go for the Philips ones on this occasion but if you're an ebayphobe they might be worth a look :? .

Welly not done my research on these bulbs but would be interested to see your results 8) . I would suggets take a pic in daylight. As night time can be a nightmare :( The xenon bulbs I have are very good. For all the info look on ace parts website. They do those philips ones for £16 Dairees

No Dai, If you read the listing H4 and H7 are the same with these bulbs. Smaller size due to improvements etc...

No mate, that means that they're available in either H4 or H7 fitment, and can be fitted directly instead of standard H4 or H7 bulbs.

Philips site
I agree with what you are saying from that site. On aceparts it just must be misleading then as it reads they are the same.

Looks a fair bit dimmer than the standard bulb, but I'm very impressed with the crisp beam pattern. Something for payday methinks
