steve_earwig wrote:What is all this teknolodji nonsense? Wood (cheapest), oil or gas - that's your lot. Because we had a few warm winters loads of people switched to gas (particularly regarding the price of oil last year), that's worked out well tho, the price of oil has dropped and those lovely Ukranians have cut the gas supply. Telly full of MPs squabbling over who's fault it is that there's only a couple of weeks of reserve. Never mind what the f*** they're going to do about it
I've got gas c/h & a soild fuel stove that works the radiators too
Mind you I never seem to have the time to process enough wood for free, (which is 100% legal here), so I'm having to run on coal in the colder weather, at £15 a bag for 2/3 day's heat. (Stove is so much more powerful than the gas boiler we prefer it in winter, but can still set the gas to come on in the morning).
Contrary to popular opinion, I'm not old enough to get winter fuel allowance, so I was hoping you could advise me of the correct way to apply for assistance for impoverished Pug owners through the Welton Foundation....
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
I would of gone on ace parts the same place wher you got your wipers from. Bargain price on there
Rappy - aceparts aint be got no Phillips extreme's I looked there first.
To me, with my 37 year old eyes, I'd rather pay £30.00 than stuff my car into a ditch or kill me or someone else cos I can't see so good
Totallt agree with what you are saying BUT!!!!!!!!!!
Welly just looked on there site they do the philips ones for £16 a pair. The bulbs I use are ace parts own xenon bulbs and are very good quality. And brighter than standard. Would not go back to standard bulbs.
Don't get bulbs which are supposed to give you a 'blue look' they actually reduce light output cos they simply have a blue filter over the glass
I can recommend Osram Nightbreakers and Phillips Extreme power. Hint: look for bulbs by the big manufacturers with proven +30, +50, +80% etc
I'm going to get a pic of my beam output and post it up
The other thing is the reference to xenon is simply the gas they use within the glass tube. Proper xenon's use a high voltage electric arc instead of a glowing filament. Generally a short length filament will glow brighter (more output) but has a shorter life as a result.
Cars in my care:
2021 Kia Spottage 1.6 Pez Turbo Dual Clutch Gearbox Trickery
2013 Renner Twingo - donkey work
Just ordered the same Philips Extreme power bulbs from Ebay for £21.88. See Welly, Ebay is useful for something
Worth noting that Halfrauds are currently doing BOGOF on some of their own brand bulbs. The +50% ones are £19.99 and the +90% ones are £23.99. Though I'd go for the Philips ones on this occasion but if you're an ebayphobe they might be worth a look .
