Re: Trip Computer :(
Sorry to say if it's a D8 it sounds like a failed attempt at a retro-fit. I don't think the ECUs fitted to the diesel models can send the necessary (VAN-bus encoded) fuel consumption data to the trip computer.
I think 3 dashes flashing means it's trying to display the external temperature without a sensor fitted and connected up.

The temperature sensor can be retro-fitted without too much difficulty - there's a few ppl on here that have done it

So does that mean the unit on my 97 GLX 2.1 TD wont work then, I thought I was just being thick as it has the temp reading but wont change when i push the stalk, I thought it was funny that the stalk did'nt have the little arrows on it

Re: Trip Computer :(
right well ive spoken to people with the same car as me.. (model etc) and theirs is working fine. Would it be best for me to take it to the dealers and say wtf... is going on here mate... sort it ????.
. guy i bought it off had it working but since then i sorta left the battery drain and now its just not registering anything

Re: Trip Computer :(
Lots of people (myself included at one point
) think their wiper stalk has a button on it when it actually doesn't. If it has a button, it'll go all the way in like the horn one does. Stalks without a button have a plastic lookalike in its place which does actually move about a bit giving the impression it might be a button...
Can't remember if my stalk-with-a-button has arrows on it or not, don't think it does

haha you know, i think i preferred the microswitch I blu-tacked to the dash on my tubby to the stalk button, it was much easier to press
