Heated seat switch.

Heya peeps

Went to the scrappy today and found the heated seat switches.
i heard that all the 406's have the heated seat wiring already in place. and i have noticed the connectors under the centre console.
But i doubt its as easy as just cutting the hole and plugging them in.... is it???

should need a fuse or relay shouldnt i??

iirc the switches are wired up "hot" - there's no relay involved. Chances are the fuse will already be fitted

On my 2.1 they come off the engine running relay, which has it's own fuse. Yes, they're live.

I have the switches that came with the heaters, I'd like the proper switches just so I don't have to lean all the way across to turn hers on and off. Although in my present financial situation I think I can do without (like a lot of things just now, bluddy, bluddy, fark fark fark)

They go off when you stop but cos they're latching switches, they come on again when you restart.
Lets face it, if you wanted to put them somewhere out of sight, you'd be hard pushed to improve on this.

Hey now Doggy I can think of a MUCH better out of sight sighting of a switch............THE HEADLAMP HEIGHT ADJUSTERS - a switch you can't even see when sitting at the wheel, driving, like

True, it's a bugger to find when you're driving. Which is when you need to usually.

You have a point there gents, but you've just reminded me of one that's worse than that. The first examples with cruise control have the main cruise on/off switch next to the headlamp height adjuster. It was a push on / push off switch, with no illumination and no obvious way of telling if it was pushed or not. At least you can see the beam patterns change when you move the headlight adjusters.
Later cars have the a rotary cruise on/off switch on the stalk, (like the one tht changes stations on the audio stalk), much better.

There's a little light on it, like the heated rear window switch. I can see it fine because of my "relaxed" driving position, but with your head further forward and higher you'd struggle.

Still, there's no real reason to worry about it being armed - most of the time mine is, and in the event I accidentally hit the stalk in 4th or 5th over 40mph you can always deactivate it by pulling the stalk or touching the brake or clutch. You get to feel the pedal sloooowly getting lighter before anything happens anyway

The couple I drove were during the day - either the lights didn't work or were too dim to see in daylight

Not in a diesel - pedal doesn't move.
