Hi Guys,
Have recently gone from diesel 306 to petrol 406.....
mechanically the car is sound and was a bargin, just a shame that the good old french electrics are having a little fun with me...
1. the indicator stalk has almost seized on me, you can only push it a small amount each way and have to hold it on, it wont move fully to hold itself on (if you get what i mean).
2. the drivers side lock doesnt like working, if locked with the key or the fob it keeps on unlocking itself immediatly - this proves quite frustrating. is that a knackered solenoid?
any help/advice on these subjects would be greatly appreciated, it also should be mentioned that i go for the cheapest fix possible normally so bodge jobs appeal to me...
thanks guys

1. Sounds like something's snapped in the stalk. Grab a new one from a scrappy or ebay. If it's a D9 you're in for a nasty job changing it as it requires the steering wheel and airbag to come off. D8 (and non-multiplexed D9) stalks are easy to replace
2. Could be a dodgy solenoid or open door switch (not the one by the hinges, I suspect there's another switch buried in the latching mechanism)

1. they didn't make D9s in 1996 (stop worrying the poor ogre
)
2. Solenoids only do what they're told - try spraying a load of WD in the lock.

as for the solenoid i think its a it more than requiring WD unfortunatly, it requires further investigation i think...
