which oil for 90bhp hdi - where from

Post by 406silverhdi »

Hi guys

im sure ive asked this before?!!!

What oil should i be using, i usually just use the diesel 10/40w semi synthetic stuff in the brownish container from halfords, but i think i should probably broaden my search

Ive been told halfords do a bogof offer on this, but been waiting for ages with no luck!

Any tips/suggestions on where to get it?

You can use any 10w40 semi synthetic oil.It doesn't have to say diesel oil on the container.

There are standard specs for oil, any oil that has ACEA A3, B3, or higher A4, B4 is very good quality oil, doesn't matter who has their name on the container. The A3, B3, container will probably have API SH on the container, the later A4, B4 spec will probably have API SJ on the container.

If the container has A2, B2 written on it,it is low quality, not semi synthetic.

You can buy the oil from any car accessory shop or motor factors, even Tesco, as I said, doesn't matter what brand name it goes under, if it is the spec I listed, it's the same oil.

Just go to Hi-Q tyre service to get an oil change, it only cost £23 so not much of a saving by doing it yourself (around a total of £1) and you don't get all oily (unless you like being oily!).
