Insurance - where do you get yours from?

Post by nimike »

and how much is it?

Local company here in N. Ireland and its 230 fully comp.

What do you think of the price comparsion sites?

I find that they can be a random number generator, so keep going till you get a better price and take that back to your current insurer to beat them down. :supafrisk:

£360 Fully Comp with Admiral and two years NCB; that's my wife as the policy holder and me as a named driver.
(We did have 9 years NCB but some nasty little sh1ts took a knife to the roof of my saab 900 on two different occasions using up my NCB protection, then there was the total loss of the 406 LX  )

I did notice that if you use the other insurance comparsion websites comparethemarket.com gocompare.com tescocompare.com the one on moneysupermarket.com they give out different prices due to the different discounts given to each site by the insurance company, so try the others online. If there are anyothers out there, fire them onto this thread.

Think I'm paying about 400 through Admiral, 3PF&T. It's in me wife's name mind, and last year I cost her her NCB

www.moneysavingexpert.com has an extensive guide on insurance of all kinds and explains how to use the various comparison sites to actually compare 100% of the market - except of course those anti-social companies like Direct Line.

There's only about 5 companies here and they're all rip-off merchants, I pay more than you lot for 3rd party only, if I wanted fully comp (which is the only alternative) it'd cost well over a grand. For an 11-year old car :( (and that was including my full ncb which I managed to carry over to here, it's more now that I have to register it in my other half's name 'cos she's never had car insurance (or indeed, any form of insurance) before.)

My insurance is a motor trade policy, I can own or drive as many vehicles as I want, except fibreglass bodied vehicles, camper vans, and classic cars.£530 Fully Compehensive for the year.

I checked out those comparison sites for my wife's car (the 406) last year, the only way to get it cheaper was to raise the excess.

Mine's due this month so I'll be hitting the comparison sites soon. Last year was about £600 for 3rd party f&t on my v6 with 2 years ncb. Got an SP30 now though :(

Was that the van that snapped you last year Matt? B@stards :frown:
Don't worry about an SP30, you're allowed up to 6 points before they start clobbering you :)

Really? Times must have changed since I had my 6 points; when I renewed they asked me how many points I had and at the time 6 was the maximum you could have without affecting your premium (their words, not mine!!)

just renewed mine..

im with the post office and this will be year 3 with them.

6 ncb protected with legal cover inc and top rac cover inc ...... wife on policy while she learned to drive they were nice and gave her 1 year ncb of her own right total premium £390.00

they did try to put it up by £60.00 until i rang them and reminded them that there was a credit crunch on and my money is tight to say the least lol and the added fact i've been with them a while so she went to see her boss and held renewal cost at last years price lol
