Well despite the SP30, my lowest quote's come in at £431 - substantially cheaper than my current £677 policy

Why don't any of these comparison sites tell you whether the policy lets you drive other people's cars 3rd party?

Incidentally it really pays to use multiple comparison sites - quotes from a single insurer can vary by up to as much as about 20% between sites!

Adrian Flux at the moment. Got the car and the Zook insured with them, I think it was about £450 for both.

Mine's just 3rd party fire+theft. There's no point paying an extra £200/year with a £250+ excess if they're just going to write the car off if anything happened and give me £400 for it. Seems like a really dumb idea to me

That's pretty impressive - I got mine down to £255 ish with Castle, £250 xs, protected ncd, 3rd party cover on other cars. Mrs Doggy as named driver, (she doesn't drive any more, but it's cheaper if she's on it  ). I declare 20k miles/year as I think it would be too easy to get caught out if I didn't, guess this might push it up a bit.
Next time, I'll get 'er indoors to try Shiela's Wheels.....

I have both cars insured with Abbey here in NI

£200 for the 406 in the Mrs' name and £300 for the 407 in my name. I'm 35 with 10+ years NCB - the Mrs has 2 years NCB, although they gave her an introductory NCB as she was on my policy for years.

Great company and a pleasure to deal with.

I found Abbey to be as cheap as some quotes, when I wasnt using any NCB. L Hughes blew them out of the water totally, never mind when it came to my bike insurance. Moving broker every year ensures a better deal.

i had bad experience with adrian flux so i dont touchthem now, last time i renewed my insurance on my vectra 1.8 direct line were the cheapest but now are looking very expensive, they say they can match my ncb on a second vehicle so got a price on my ford probe using 6 years ncb and they came back with £512, i did a quick shop around and got a price of £204 using my ncb on the probe and £302 with no ncb on the vectra so could insure both cheaper than what they want for the one, hopefully the 406 will be on the road before renewal is due on the vectra so will be interesting to see how much difference the vectra and 406 are
