cabin blower

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

cabin blower

Post by codgod »

hi,as regards to my blower not working, ive taken it off and ran two wires directly to it and it works,so it least i know thats not the problem.ive checked all of the connections and they were also fine, the fuse is fine it was a 40 amp fuse.
so i got my multimeter tester out and ive found out that ive got no power running to the blower,i tested the power on the fuse box heater point and that is also dead, there is a quite large grey wire running from the rear of the fuse box into the loom and from there i have no idea where this goes, please does anybody have any idea what to do please.
many thanks.

Welcome Steve! :)
There's anther fuse box in the engine bay behind the battery, it could be running to that.

Hi steve , the power for my blower on my X reg hdi comes via the ignition
switch and i have had similar problems, there are 3 plugs coming from the
switch ,a black single wire that plugs straight into the fuse box the one by your
right knee ,another twin wire plug that also goes into the fuse box then there is the third plug
that goes to a connector at the base of the steering column and this is the
one that carries live feed to the blower ,yellow i think it is try wriggling it
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron

thankyou for your reply,as im no sparky im just trying my best by looking for something burnt/corroded etc.ive unplugged all of those connectors but still to no avail,i read on the net that the problem is likely to be the black wire that clips into the blower fuse (is that wire also a live)
thanks again.
