ignition barrel removal. cabin blower.

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

ignition barrel removal. cabin blower.

Post by codgod »

hi,as regards to my blower still not working,i have been led to believe that it is the ignition switch that is faulty.i cant seem to remove the ignition barrel (2001 hdi exec estate) to take a closer look.
or should i just ring up a local sparky to sort it for me.
thanks.

Before you go down that route, may I suggest a final check?

As yours is 2001, you should have a seperate heater module like my 2001 HDi. If you look behind the centre console, you will see two pairs of thick red and black wires, there will be two wiring plugs going to and from the module, with the engine running, put a test lamp to the thick red and black wires at the right hand side, if they are live, ignore the ignition switch, if they are live, check the other red and black wires for live feed, no live means a faulty module.

It should be very easy to tell which pair of wires go the motor.

This is what happened to my own car a few weeks ago.I had live to the module, but none to the motor.Replacing the module solved the problem.

£52 from the dealer.

Cheers jasper , the prob i originally had did invovle the ignition switch
but having read what you had to say about the module i am going to
test that first in the hope its the cheaper option as a switch is around the
£150 mark
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron
