throttle cable

throttle cable
Can anyone tell me how to adjust the throtle cable in the rapier, as i am finding that to get the power i need to push more on the pedal, the cable looks like it's in good condition but just needs adjusted but i don't know whether it gets adjusted at the pedal end or the engine end.

is it petrol or diesel if its petrol then all you have to do is follow the throttle cable to the front of the engine until you see a clip pushed on the cable all you have to do is pull the clip off and pull back the cable back a couple of clicks and push the clip back on but dont do it to much otherwise you rev the bum off your car

i see the clip, but should there be more or less of the plastic stuff at the clip side

Gently pull the plastic bit that has the clip on it, when you feel resistance, fit the clip 2 slots from the inner end, this gives a little end clearance, of course if yours is different, move it back until you have clearance (slack).

i have attached a photo, can anyone advise which slot from the left is best to put the clip on, or can it vary from one car to another

It depends on the car. Adjust it as tight as it will go without increasing the revs.

You just need to take almost all the play out, just before the cable starts to pull the pot. ALternatively, I can't be asked to pull the book out but I seem to remember it says have someone press the pedal to the floor, then make sure that the pot is pulled all the way to it's stop. Once the pedal's down pull the cable outer as far as it goes from the pot, then pull the clip off and reposition it in the last available slot next to the pot. Then run the car and make sure it idles ok.

Thats a great idea. maybe mine wasn't pulling all the way to the end of the pot. Should we expect a deluge of broken pots now, or is the mechanical travel significantly greater than the electrical rotation?

i have now adjusted the throttle and it's alot better,
