garage labour rates
i went to my local dealer saturday get a price for my door card lights to be activated on the cars computer and i was quoted 1 hrs labour £55 + vat at verve peugeot & then i went to evans halshaw and got quoted 1 hrs labour at £70, why does a simple thing need to be expensive
Re: garage labour rates
Why not try a local auto electrical specialist? They may be cheaper, they may not.

Re: garage labour rates
i don't know if a small local garage would have access to the the computers required to do the job
Re: garage labour rates
I was really talking about an Auto Electrical workshop, that's different to your local garage, but some local garages do have the equipment, the problem would still be the cost, these computers cost thousands of pounds, therefore, just to connect it up will cost money.

Re: garage labour rates
I'd be very interested to know of anybody, apart from dealers, able to re-programme BSI, reset additive ecu counters etc. I share everyone's mistrust of stealers - you could probably swallow the huge cost IF they knew what they were doing. I've heard / read that this type of work requires very specialised diagnostic kit/software, but if there's an good independant expert out there, the club ought to be able to give then some business. Suggestions, anyone?

That's cheap for a dealer. Mine charges £100+VAT per hourandrew1608 wrote: 1 hrs labour £55 + vat at verve peugeot
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
