cigarette lighter supply

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

cigarette lighter supply

Post by averagejo »

hi,

im guessing its normal on the 406 but seems a little odd that the cigarette lighter socket remains live even when the engine is off, is there any easy way either at the center console or fuse box to change this to an ignition live?

i know seems like a strange question but i have an ipod fm transmitter/charger and the damn thing just stays illuminated after the engine's off and its a pain in the rear too keep remembering to unplug it.

thanks,

dan

You have to move it across in the fuse box, a search brings up lots of posts about it, mostly for the D8 but the'9 is much the same.

Nah, all you do is move it over, the position has three slots.

My ciggy lighter supply keeps blowing the fuse (4 times in 1 yr). Can any one tell me what the problem could be.

Either a dodgy socket, or what you're plugging in is pulling too much current
