Replaced Multi function display but no CD!!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Replaced Multi function display but no CD!!

Post by ukharper »

Hi, my display was getting worse with all the missing lines, so I got a replacement from Ebay , fitted it & was pleased to have it all nicely clear....fuel computer, radio, satnav all showed up well.
I have since realised that it will not display the CD info, cd isn`t operational, yet when I swapped back to my old screen, it all worked fine... How can a different screen stop the cd unit from working?? :( :( :(
On looking over the labels, there is a slight difference to a couple of the numbers, but most are the same
Do I need to have the replacement screen `matched` to the car, or will I have to get one with all the same numbers on the labels?
Thanks in anticipation,

You could transfer the screen from your replacement trip comp to the old one... (I don't know whether it's plugged or soldered!)

I had a look, it`s soldered in & there is something like 100 micro-connections, plus my old screen is fully knackered after fiddling with it. I will see what the pug people have to say I suppose..........

Is it the CD changer that isn't working with the new MFD? I had this when i first bought my D9, one line missing so i replaced the display and it didn't recognisze changer was connected, fit old MFD or the one from my housemates Coupe SE and it would work. Had read on either this forum or the coupe one that they need coding to know it has a changer attached.
Took it to Peugeot to get them to code it but after 30 mins they told me I had a headunit fault, after explaining that I had been told it needed coding that there was a changer attached (wasn't happy, didn't believe me and said he would go ask someone else) and that my headunit was fine I got told my car was ready, don't think he wanted to be proved wrong so receipt said 'CD changer was unplugged' but was all sorted for the 'bargain' price of £37.50

Well it`s booked in to the Barrow Peugeot on Monday after they told me that these screens do in fact need a software upgrade to match the car system, plus I`ll get the dreaded `anti pollution system defective` message looked at while it`s there. I will let you know how much later.

Well, got the screen matched up for £17.10 plus VAT

The antipollution faults came up as brake pedal switch & accelerator pedal sensor??? £22.80 plus VAT
How much for these parts then, & can I swap with breakers parts or is there more programming involved?
